Your shot strikes it again, but fails to hit the head. It reels back with the hit, but then lashes out at Sparks with its teeth before barreling past him towards you. Sparks screams disproportionally to the apparent damage from the bite and then slumps back a bit, as though exhausted, as he is pushed aside.

Chandra: as you go to push Sparks, it pivots on its bulk and takes a bite out of your arm for 12 LPs. You also feel weakened down to your soul, losing 8 Essence. You move past the bite, however, and push Sparks against the tunnel wall, behind the monster.

Jack: Your hand pierces the rubbery flesh as it twists to assault Chandra, striking as though you intended to attack, but your hopes for something more are for naught-what you hoped to alleviate is not an ailment or wound. It's something far worse, and well beyond your ability to fix.

Jack withdraws his hand, shaking his head sadly, and says, "I cannot cure him - it'll have to be destroyed." Reaching into his pack, Jack withdraws a defensive grenade, and plunges his hand back down the hole he just made deep into the creature. When he withdraws his hand for the second time, he is holding the pin of the grenade only.

Jack says, loudly enough to be heard, "Fire in the Hole!" and steps back a few feet, far enough away to escape the main brunt of the blast (but not all of it) but close enough to prevent the creature from moving past him and endangering his comrades.

Your attempt to shove your hand into the same hole, holding the grenade while the creature thrashes about, misses. Your hand thuds into it's bulk harmlessly..

Sparks swings his arm over your shoulder as you barrel him over, Chandra, firing his weapon into its forward bulk before you carry him and yourself down after bouncing him into the tunnel wall.

As that happens, Jack once again tries shoving a grenade into the creature, succeeding this time. He shouts "fire in the hole" and steps back.

Hearing his cry, even those of you not in a position to see what he's done will recognize Jack's cry as the universal "I just did something with explosives" declaration, and figure you'd better decide quickly how you'll react.

Cutting inside you find nothing but internal organs and a massively over-sized stomach, the sort of things one might expect inside a monster.
