Operation 1: Front Porch

This forum is for in-game, in-character posting. Here is where the actual game will take place. "AF: Lighthouse Squad" is a military-oriented Armageddon Unisystem game making good use of the Armed Force supplement.

You and Sparks manage to move up around the next bend before the light becomes to bright. Looking around the corner, you manage to see several men in cold weather gear wielding pneumatic hammers against the ice and tundra, tearing into the wall at the tunnel's end under the bright glare of pole-mounted work lights. Several crates and bodies litter the area. Just as you notice the crates and bodies, several short bursts of gunfire ring out, one of which clips your shoulder. (-3 LP)

Signal Sparks to go and retrieve the others whilst looking for some cover, without going into the light. Then try to find where the shots are coming from and shoot back, suppressive fire.

[How far away is this, approx? And is there any cover between them and us? Do the bodies look to be human or something else?]

Sparks nods and backs down the tunnel, laying suppressive bursts as he does so. There's not much in the way of cover except for the tunnel's curvature.

The lights and work are about 20 yards ahead, and the firing seems to be coming from somewhere amongst some of the crates, although the glare from the powerful lights makes it difficult to be certain. The bodies look human, but you can't be certain without removing their protective cold weather gear, including the balaclavas over their faces.

Crouch by the wall and continue to lay suppressive bursts until backup arrives. I'm trying to keep their heads down not go through my ammunition.

Ah, yes. Throw a smoke grenade. Keep the rifle up and shoot anything that comes through the smoke.

And can I ask who has the M249 SAW?

Croner signals Studder to bring the SAW up, and you feel him tap you on the shoulder to let you know he's there as your arm draws back to toss the grenade. It sails through the air, it's fuse smoldering a thin contrail as it flips through the mist before striking one of the crates, bouncing a bit, and then detonating with a "thwuff" sound, quickly filling the corridor with red smoke.

Signal to Studder that I'm going to check things out. Then move forward slowly, using the smoke as cover. If I come close to any of the bodies I'll give them a light kick to make sure they are dead and are not getting up again. When I get close to the smoke I'll put on the gas mask and walk in cautiously, using the wall to guide me, and head towards the crates.

[What happened to the people using the pneumatic hammers?]

It won't be that easy to just walk into the smoke. The fire hasn't let up at all. As for the guys drilling, the sound has stopped or is being muffled by the constant gunfire. You can't really tell, because in such close quarters it's like a solid wall of sound assailing you.

Try anyway, I'll go as far away from the fire as possible.

The only way to get away from the firing is to go back up the tunnel. There's not a lot of wide open space where you are.

Well, in that case throw an offensive grenade in the direction that the fire is coming from. Aiming for a distance approximate to the smoke grenade. And signal to Studder, Sparks too if he's around that I'm about to move forward. Then run forward as soon as the earth shaking kaboom occurs scanning for enemies as I go.

The grenade bounces in and explodes, and the tight confines shower shrapnel to mere feet ahead of you. You can here pained wailing from at least two voices and the drilling has stopped, as has the gunfire.

Chandra grins and signals clear and then moves forward, scanning for survivors. He'll shoot any that go for their weapons.

As you move forward, you notice something rolling across the ground towards you from behind what remains of the crates.

It explodes as you do so, with the narrow tunnel shaping the explosion upwards and over the entire team. You, Studder and Sparks each suffer 3 damage whereas everyone else is far enough away that their body armor absorbs everything but the incidental effects. You front three are also knocked off your feet by the shaped concussion.

Get back up, cursing in a language not english, and check that my gun is alright. Assuming it is charge forward to where the grenade came from.

Open up full auto, trying to catch both of them in the hail of bullets. Do not slow down until I am past them.

One staggers and falls but the other remains on his feet, seemingly unfazed as he continues to raise his weapon. As you get closer you can smell rotting flesh despite the cold.

Try for a head shot and say over the radio. "They have zombies!!" If he's still up when he's in a position to shoot, drop to the ground.

Chandra watches the zombie dodge and comments. "That's SO not fair!" Then he grins, bringing the gun around for another shot. "And what's this mortal? I am the hand of Shiva!" Fire a burst into the zombie. Then over the radio. "I need the padre and the medic here, now!" Shoot the zombie again with a burst.

You shoot part of the ... creature's ... head off in a rotting spray of gore, but the rest just grins and leaps at you. You hear a chatter of gunfire in mid-air and the rest of the head disappears in a red mist that covers you. The body drops to the ground, limp.
