Beyond your range finders (and thus too far to shoot yet), but you estimate you've got about 30 seconds before you can accurately range them.

You see great rage. A dark corruption. And you see that the wolf you cast this on has but one goal: kill you all.

"Oh, shit... They're enemy! I'm not sure what. Probably some kind of supernatural, but I didn't get details. I count 6, and I think they know we're here!"

Sparks looks at his buddy "when they get into range you think you can take out one or two?.....I am thinking I can do at least one maybe two"

Radios back to the group "does anyone else have a clear a bead on the wolves?"

"Sir from our vantage point and the magic guys info we should take them out at range before they get too close....awaiting your orders"

Sparks brings his weapon up getting ready to fire

Ian sighs mentally, would have been nice to get a mission with no complications, but he comes through the radio, "You have permission to light them up. Everyone else, in position for attack."

He moves off to the right, making sure he can get a good shot, with no risk of friendly fire.

"Roger that." Chandra looks around again then calls out to his buddy Mac. "Make sure nothing gets past us, we don't want the others getting any surprises." He continues to watch out for any wolves. He radios to Alex "Did you see any trying to circle around to the back?" He keeps an eye on Mac to see how he's holding up.

You all wait until the first of the wolves has moved into the most extreme range of the scouts' weapons (this would be Keane's anti-materiel rifle, which makes a hell of a big bang.)

"I can drop two for sure, maybe more, depending on how much time we have before they are on top of us," Sergio answers without taking his eye off the scope.

Sergio aims carefully at the head of the incoming monstrosity.

"Say good night, Wolfy," he says and fires his rifle.

One shot to the head, followed quickly by another to the body.

At that extreme range, in those weather conditions against mobile targets, both your shots go wide, the second by a wide margin. The report from your rifle echoes loudly through the snowy gullies and ice flats. Upon hearing it the wolves raise their heads briefly before coming on more cautiously, as though possessing an intelligence far greater than you'd expect of any animal.

Sparks watches the shots go wide and holds off firing his weapon, then looks at Sergio "damn that was close, we have to get the fuck outta here, if they didn't know that we were here before they do now"

Sparks scans the land were they are looking for a route that will lead Sergio and himself away from the wolves

Sparks taps Sergio on the shoulder...."We have to move now...I will let the others know, that they too better get humping it to a new location"

Steve: Sparks looks for the safest route for Sergio and himself to move away and still out flanking the wolves. Sparks then radios to the others to get a move on based on the new course that Sparks picks

You've enough time to move and settle atop a new butte, if you like, but you'll have to move quick. And yes, your weapon has a much shorter range than that of the sniper, so you'll need them to get closer.

The question is how far away are they and is their time to try again?
Spark scans the landscape then looks again at the wolves coming "Do you think you have time to tray again, before we have to move?"

Group Info

Postby Jack Grey » Tue Aug 26, 2008 4:50 pm

Do the rest of us know what is going on, or just that we've been told to move? I'm confused on the communication - what has been relayed to us in the back?

Since the wolves seems to be heading in your direction (I think) and the sniper missed thus alarting the wolves to are position, I wanted to radio back to you guys that I think the sniper and myself will move to try an out flank/get in a better position to shoot/attack the wolves and you guy should move also.

Landmarks and the Steyer's range allow you to estimate about 2500 yards and closing. You could move, but by the time you get into a new position they'll probably be closer to 1000 yards, if not nearer.

You're all on the same channel, so you can hear everything you're saying to each other except what people are saying to their partners nearby, unless the speaker specifies he activates his throat mic to broadcast.

Randy get a look to his partner and answer

"That's not a moon"

A wait a moment an add :

"Keep your distance, though, Chewie, but don't look like you're trying to keeping your distance"

Looking to his dazzled partner :

Sorry, I have dreamed to say this from a long ago"...

Taking his sidearm

"Let's Go !"

Chandra radios the Captain. "Much as I like to have nothing to do, do you want we should try to flank these wolves?"

Assuming he agrees, I'll signal my partner to move off. We'll head for the main group then swing round to hit the wolves from the side. The one they came from.

Otherwise I'll stay where I am and keep an eye out for further trouble.

[So, guys, the action seems to be waiting on orders and confirmation. If we don't hear from the commanding officer by the end of today I'm just going to say something is interfering with radios and you'll have to move on without orders from the team leader]

[Please note this post assumes that there's something wrong with the radio, if not then cheerfully ignore]

Chandra frowns at the noises coming from the radio then gets up and runs over to his buddy and taps him on the shoulder to get his attention. "Something's wrong with the radios, I'm going to return to the main group and see if I can fix, or pinpoint, what's going on. You're coming with me and then you're going to flank the wolves and provide support for our scouts. Now, lets move!" He then runs back to the main group, occasionally trying the radio to see if the interference clears up.

Once back with the main group he heads over to our captain to explain his presence and his plan in person. Assuming the captain goes along with it, he looks over the others before pointing to Jack. "You'll do, go with my buddy here and provide fire support to our scouts. If it becomes too hairy for you make a strategic withdrawl. Now go!" Then points at the padre. "I need you to watch over me while I try to figure out what's going on with the radios." He shucks off his radio, finds someplace to sit down with it and begins to work on the radio.

Jack nods, motions to the other two, and heads up towards the advance scouts, moving to a position where he can see them while providing cover fire. If the scouts have stopped firing, due to weather conditions or distance, he will use the radio to tell the sniper to begin shooting, or, if radio communications have failed, use hand gestures to convey the information.

OOC: Jack will give the sniper a "boost" to his "to-hit" chance.

[Because we haven't heard from Chris yet ...]

The Captain passes along hand signals to everyone in sight of him that he wants you to take high ground, letting the oncoming beasts run into the valleys between the rises. By making them claw up to you, you get higher ground and reduce the risk of getting each other in a crossfire.

After issuing the commands, he begins to climb up the snow-covered, icy side of a wind-swept rise, positioning himself to meet their current path towards your group head-on.

Chandra indicates he's seen and understood the signals, then makes sure everyone near him has as well - he'll repeat them for anyone who doesn't seem to have gotten it. He then puts away his radio, picks up his rifle, looks for a good spot and starts to climb. He'll cotinue to work of the radio while waiting for the wolves to appear.

Meanwhile, Sergio and Sparks reach another position. Sergio drops down on the snow and aims again at the leading wolf. He waits until the wolf is at long range and shoots it in the head once and again in the body.

Let's hope this thing just looks like some superdog straight out of hell, he thinks before pulling the trigger.

Chandra manages to get the radio working again, causing a squawk of static to shoot through all your ear pieces. Meanwhile, the lead wolf is about to reach long range for Sergio and Spark's position. It seemed to have noticed your movement and it seems to pick up speed, heading directly towards you.
