Sample Headquarters Feature

Laboratory

A Laboratory is a facility for the use of particular, appropriate specialty (e.g., Investigation, Medicine, Occult, Psychiatry, Science, or Technology) that must be selected when the feature is purchased. Characters may use the laboratory to perform research, study unusual phenomena (including many super-powers), and so forth. The Laboratory contains much of the equipment necessary to serve its purpose, possibly including dedicated and enclosed computer network if appropriate.

Anyone making a test for the Laboratory’s associated specialty while using the facility in a relevant fashion increases the specialty’s level. That is to say, treat the basic level specialty as being expert, and expert as master.

The Gamemaster may rule that the Laboratory’s equipment is insufficient for creating something desired. In such instances, an appropriate Workshop will be required.

Base Trouble

Some base qualities can be used to cause the occupants trouble.

Haunted

An unfriendly spirit of some sort dwells within the base. It could be a specific ghost, many spirits, or a generally malevolent entity that possesses the entire facility. The haunting could manifest in annoying ways―things get moved, distracting sounds and halfseen manifestations occur―but usually nothing dangerous. Alternatively, there is a risk of being harmed as events start small and begin to escalate with time; one or more ghosts to appear and attack at some point.

Getting rid of the spirits is no simple matter; some greater act must be performed to exorcise the entities from the base.
