After much consideration I finally broke down and bought Odyssey Prime. I quite liked it, although I wish there had been more background information in the book (but then I like background information ).
I was curious how many people out there were running/playing in an Odyssey Prime game? Any interesting stories to share?
(I'm pondering the idea of runing a PbEM myself - but I'm still umming and ahhhing about it at the moment!)
Cheers,

I kinda noticed Which is a pity - I really like the idea behind Odyssey Prime, and would be curious to hear what others have been doing with it.
Oh yeah, I also wish there were a lot more products available for it so I could read more about the background, and the "metaplot" you've hinted at in other posts |

Of course, I'm running the Unisystem Odyssey Prime game though. Been running a campaign. They've made enemies with an alien race known as the Reptors. Think intelligent and technologically advanced velociraptors who have evolved into a more humanoid form. They use stealth technology and plasma weaponry. It was a good way to introduce the stealth suits from the book.
Though my players keep calling it homework, they like filling out the mission logs...and I get a kick out of reading them.
I've recently put the game on hold to run a Wuxia setting I've been wanting to run. I'll definitely be coming back to OP eventually though. I still haven't gotten to my "season finale." The last two sessions was a two-parter where a snafu happened with the gate and the OP team ended up being sent to a different planet than they were supposed to go to while a second portal swept up the just returning DamCon team and sent them on their first offworld mission to a hyper-xenoparanoid planet where the populace is controled by the government. That'll be a nice change. The team that is supposed to quell problems on Earth is now the "problem" on a planet. |

That sounds rather interesting! So have the PCs found a solution to save the world yet, or have they been too busy trying to avoid dying at the hands of the Reptors?
What did the PCs end up doing to upset the Reptors? Have they managed to make any friends out in the universe, or have they just been upsetting everyone they meet
Cheers,

They kinda stepped into the Reptor's business. They gated into a world where they held some of their herd and some slave labor. A slave ran through their camp chased by some Reptors, the team decided to help the slave and they and the Reptors opened fire on each other. The slave then managed to give them an idea about how nasty the Reptors were and that some were based in a nearby village. They decided to scope out the village to get an idea of the strength of tech and numbers and stumbled onto a couple Reptor guards and got into another firefight, killing the guard, but not before it had killed one of their NPC grunts and radio'd back that there were intruders. The Reptors chased them in force.
They eventually made it back to the Ring, but some Reptors used a device to fork the wormhole and arrive somewhere outside their base. They abducted some humans from nearby Butte, Montana and tested their level of technology and their physiology. The Reptors learned that the planet Earth was one of their lost colonies that they tried to build slowly over millions of years, because back then they did not have the technology to terraform a planet quickly. Seems another race of aliens had come along while the Reptors were at war somewhere else and destroyed their hard work to place some genetically altered creatures onto the planet to eventually be used as a slave race of warriors. Humans...
Well, now the Reptors see the hairless apes as a real problem, seeing as the race that did this now owns a good third of the Galaxy. The DamCon team eventually tracked what they thought were all of them, but unbeknownst to them, one was hiding with stealth tech in the base and was receiving the info it needed to take back with it to their home planet. When next the Ring was opened, the Reptor forked the wormhole again and went home to report their findings.
The DamCon team managed to get the data off the device that they got off the dead Reptor scientist. The info stated that they were a genetically altered race designed to be warrior slaves of a race of aliens known only as The Krel. The last words on the device were what concerned them most. Destroy the Humans Immediately.
They haven't run into anymore Reptors yet, but that will change quickly...as soon as I get back to the game. The next few episodes will deal more with their enemy and eventually bring the season finale with some nasty cliffhanger with the Reptors. |

Very very nice! That's a great backstory for the campaign (wish I was playing in it!) Please keep us posted on how things turn out when you get there - I'd love to hear the end/cliffhanger |

So did you ever get back to this game? If so, how did it go?

Well, I'll say this: Dan's Raptors/Krels will play very nicely into OP's End Scenario... if he lets me use them

And when can I buy that?
(Fingers cross Odyssey Prime will be our next campaign - although that probably won't be for another 8-12 months. Not sure if I'm going to use the universe "as is" - at the moment there are a few things I want to change. But we'll see!)

2012... That's the final, climactic scenario hinted in the intro chapter where the PCs will get a chance to stop Doomsday So you'll have plenty of time to set up between now and then... as long as you keep Doomsday there till the end, that's the only "metaplot" you have to be concerned about

Hey, don't know how I completely missed the latter half of this conversation. I did run more episodes, but I think only two other episodes really had any focus on the Reptors. I ended up doing a two part episode where some major catastrophe happened that was completely unexplainable and the Od team got sent to a completely different planet than they were supposed to go (and incidentally had absolutely the wrong gear for it). Seems a seer was asking a God for assistance in a fantasy realm to fight a dragon and what they got was the Od team. It was a pretty fun scenario. A satchel charge stuck to a dragon's arse, ouchie. Anyhoo, they got back to headquarters, with a few neat toys that will degrade over time (because the magic level on Earth is lower than it was there) and found out that the DamCon team disappeared mysteriously at the same time through a ripple that was caused when the ring went screwy. I was going to send them into the world that the Od team was supposed to go to originally, a very paranoid government controlled society 1984 style with robots that were the main peacekeepers. Was gonna do a role reversal bit where they were the aliens from another world and the MiBs were looking for them to make them disappear. Never got that far, alas. Some things came up and we had to put OP on hold, but I still wanna go back to it. Had some major plans after that episode to bring back the Reptors and maybe give them a glimpse of their other possible adversary, the Krel. Hopefully I'll still get a chance to do it. The gang seems like they wouldn't mind going back to it.
As for the Reptors, I kinda loosely modeled them after the Saurians from ConX, but they look a bit different and their society and some of their tech is different. The Krel I hadn't decided upon yet. I was thinking of modeling them after the greys, but wasn't 100% sold yet on the idea. _________________ Gotta love internet translators:
