It’s been a while since we’ve released a new product, but we’re back and getting things under steam again with our first release for the Pathfinder rules. The Spellweaver is an updated, revised, and expanded product originally written for the OGL 3.5 rules, but the Pathfinder version is no mere conversion. Like the previous version, this release converts the arcane magic system into one based on skill use, allowing it to exist alongside or entirely replace the existing system. Every spell is assigned a DC based on its component elements, such as range, casting time, and effect, and the Spellweaving skill is then used to determine success.

The Spellweaver — PFRPG Edition has over 30 pages of new content, including updates to everything the previous edition had.

Aside from the standard conversions required, all game content has been updated to answer questions that followed the previous version’s release way back in 2006. This means some additional explanations in the rules, as well as clarifications.

Aside from the conversion and clean up job, which includes a much cleaner and cooler layout, along with colored interior art and a new cover by Scott Harshbarger, the newly added content includes details on what happens in an area where the Weave’s energies are abnormal, a new creature (the Weave elemental), a new hazard (the strand grub), new character traits, four archetypes for the spellweaver base class, and other goodies spread throughout the book.

The rules on Spellweaving have all been clarified and updated, not to mention better organized, and the feats and spellweave DC sections have both been vastly expanded to account for the feats and spells, respectively, found in the Pathfinder® Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook™, Pathfinder® Roleplaying Game: Advanced Player’s Guide™, Pathfinder® Roleplaying Game: Ultimate Magic™, and Pathfinder® Roleplaying Game: Ultimate Combat™. The included rules also allow you to convert spells found in other Pathfinder rule products to the Spellweaving system. This is made all the easier by the inclusion of a spreadsheet in the PDF product release that is also available from the Misfit Studios’ web site.

The Spellweaver — PFRPG Edition is currently available as a color and black and white PDF from OneBookShelf, with the spreadsheet included. Cubicle 7 will be releasing the Spellweaver in a black and white print version later in the year.
