Over the past few days, I’ve noticed several online retailers were showing both the Spellweaver and Superior Synergy: Fantasy (PFRPG editions) books being on pre-order, so I browsed the C7 store this morning and was happy to see that both these books are listed as now being in stock. I don’t know if this is Cubicle 7’s way of saying the books are actually in hand or on their way, but the fact they are up for sale and prepared to ship soon is good news.
Christina and Rogue Mage at GenCon!
>p>I’m back from a whirlwind vacation at GenCon, where I served as an Industry Insider Guest of Honor. I served on some great panels, and ran two games, one of which was a pick-up game of Rogue Mage with several Open Design fans. My favorite panel was called How to Get a Woman (to Play your Game). Jess Hartley, Michelle Lyons-McFarland, Susan Morris, and Elizabeth Shoemaker Sampat discussed things that gaming groups should do to cultivate a welcoming atmosphere for women gamers. It was an historic moment at GenCon, for there have never been as many women game designer guests of honor at the show before. I had someone snap the following picture of us all to commemorate it. Also, like Steven (Congrats, buddy!!!), I ended up winning a gold Ennie at the show for Best Adventure for Streets of Zobeck for Open Design (Wolfgang Baur’s publishing company, also called …
So, yeah … that’s my first Ennie win
So, while Christina is off at GenCon representing herself and Misfit Studios, I’m stuck in Toronto. The frustrating fact that I couldn’t make it to GenCon (again) is mitigated somewhat with some good news: a project I worked on for Green Ronin as part of the writing team won an Ennie tonight! DC ADVENTURES Heroes & Villains, Vol. 1, the first DC character book, won the gold Ennie for the RPG Bestiary/Adversary book category. It was certainly a team effort, as the writing workload was split pretty much evenly between us, but it feels good to know I helped put together a product that was voted to be #1 in its category.
Misfit Christina Guest at GenCon!
Christina Stiles will be attending GenCon 2012 as an Industry Insider Guest of Honor. This will be her first GenCon ever, and she will be representing the women of game design! Come out and meet her, and ask her about the upcoming release of the Rogue Mage RPG Player’s Handbook available in pdf from Misfit Studios on August 24th. The pdf is currently in the hands of those who backed the initial Kickstarter, and books are being printed and offered for sale through BellaRosa Books in early September. Copies are expected to be for sale at Faith Hunter’s booth at Dragon*Con, as well. Here’s Christina’s GenCon schedule. She’ll be hanging out with several of the kobolds of Kobold Press (aka Open Design) while at the show. Also note, a book she contributed to with Kobold Press/Open Design, Streets of Zobeck, under lead designer Ben McFarland is up for an Ennie …
